About Alyssa Bass

Alyssa Bass is the Distribution and Engagement Specialist at Deep South Today, where she leads distribution efforts for Mississippi Today and Verite News. She previously served as the Product Engagement Coordinator at Mississippi Today, managing the newsroom’s social media accounts, curating newsletters and creating various audience engagement opportunities through surveys, texting, AMAs and video.
 

Before joining Mississippi Today, Alyssa freelanced for the Jackson Free Press and completed a fellowship with PBS FRONTLINE.
 

Alyssa earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism and a minor in Black Studies from The University of Southern Mississippi in 2020.

She is currently based in Kenner, Louisiana.
